As the original founder of Leibel Insurance Group in 1981, Jerry started his insurance career in 1970, and has been an asset to the Insurance Industry as a whole for 46 years. His leadership and knowledge has helped grow Leibel into the business it is today. Jerry is currently in the process of retiring, and is enjoying the Snow Bird life!

Chad entered the insurance industry in which he joined his father and brother in 2003 and is currently the Vice President and a Partner in the family brokerage.  He began his insurance career initially in personal lines sales and service and at this time is focused primarily on technological improvements, advancing digital platforms, website development and improving online lead generation.   Due to his very forward thinking and innovation, Leibel Insurance Group now has some of the most sophisticated technology on the market today, in which has enhanced the Company’s long term success. In addition, Chad is a key asset in the recruitment of a strong team of staff – one of Leibel’s biggest strengths – and an accomplishment he is most proud of.

Steve Leibel, liaison for our commercial lines department, has worked for Leibel Insurance Group for the past 21 years. In addition to his comprehensive experience, knowledge, superior service and understanding of risk, Steve’s clients enjoy his energetic and aggressive approach to solving their risk management needs. As their outsourced risk manager, Steve’s dedication enables his clients to focus on growing their corporations. His typical clientele are Construction, Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, Transportation, and Realty. Steve enjoys cycling, swimming, running, skiing and golfing, and he volunteers for The Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Rob Barros

Branch Manager

As Branch Manager for the Calgary office, Rob is excited to introduce Calgary to the Leibel Insurance Group and making it your broker of choice!

Rob began his career in the insurance industry in 2001. He spent 10+years in home and auto claims, where he saw firsthand how insurance is there in your time of need – protecting your possessions and, more importantly, the people in your life.  Rob then shifted his insurance career to coaching agents and brokers who sell and service insurance products.  He spent 3 years supporting insurance contact centre personnel in thousands of conversations with customers focusing on their current and future insurance needs. With his unique perspective of having seen both sides of insurance, it has become Rob’s mission to help educate customers on how insurance works, both with and for them.

Rob is a strong leader who inspires the will to win. He builds cohesive and engaged teams, and takes pride in watching staff grow in their roles through coaching and mentorship. Under his guidance, he has led a number of teams to award winning success.

When away from the office, Rob enjoys spending time with his family and can be found on the pitch coaching his boys’ soccer teams or on the golf course.

Holly has been with Leibel since 2008. She is a valued asset to our personal lines department. Holly lives by the motto “always deliver what you’ve promised” .Her knowledge and expertise help make insurance simple and easy to understand. She enjoys building relationships with her clients, and helping them with any insurance questions they may have. Outside of the office, you can find Holly on the soccer field, or on the mountains snowboarding.

As a born and raised Calgarian, Bonnie knows what’s important to Calgarians when it comes to local insurance needs. She has been in the insurance industry for over 13 years and has a passion for helping her clients find and understand the best coverage for their unique personal situations.  She believes in building strong and lasting relationships with her clients and helping to deliver peace of mind with the knowledge that she is there for all their insurance needs, in every stage of their lives.

As the Mother of 3 young boys, her pastime and personal interests are spent chasing them around which includes all the extracurricular activities like swimming, basketball, and Cubs/Beavers.  Bonnie currently volunteers as the treasurer with the local Scouts Canada Fundraising Group Committee.

Originally from Edmonton and now happily based in Calgary, Jennifer is pleased to join the Leibel team. Having started in the insurance industry in 2003, she utilizes her knowledge and expertise to build trusting relationships with her clients and find the right insurance coverage to meet their needs. Jennifer earned her CIP designation in 2010, and continues to further her education in her spare time. Jennifer also enjoys the company of family and friends, traveling, and cooking.

Amanda comes to Leibel with 15 years of experience in the Insurance industry. Having begun her career as an agent with State Farm Insurance in 2003, she steadily moved to becoming a broker in 2008, and is currently working towards her CIP designation. Born and raised in Calgary, Amanda appreciates the driven prosperity of Alberta’s hard working commercial industries. Specializing in the transportation industry, she works with companies across Alberta to provide essential commercial insurance coverage, along with educating her clients on potential risks that can be incurred. Her expertise in insurance, along with her strong problem-solving skills has enabled her to assist her clients in finding optimal solutions to their insurance needs. Amanda is passionate about working hard for her clients, committed to providing exceptional customer service by building long term relationships. She considers herself an extended team member of her clients, using her skill set and devotion to provide assessment, knowledge, and advice on how to best protect their company.

When she is not in the office she spends time with her two children and her dog who she loves dearly. Her hobbies include competing in fitness and bodybuilding competitions, as well as spending time outdoors hiking, or home baking and cooking for her family.

Torie Zdan

Marketing Director

Torie is an ‘island girl’, originally from Victoria, BC. She moved to Edmonton in 2015 to get a taste of real Canadian winter. A true car buff, Torie worked for five years in the automotive industry, enthusiastically supporting the sales of several luxury brands. More recently, she was employed by one of Alberta’s premium digital marketers. Away from the office, Torie is passionate about reading and writing, but also loves driving sports cars and can often be found drifting around the track.

Torie understands that customer service is a top priority, and as Leibel’s marketing manager, connects the company with the communities it serves.

Janet Balanay

Financial Controller

Janet holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics. She is currently working on completing a Bachelor’s Degree in Administration with an accounting major and actively enrolled in the CPA Professional Education Program. She was born and raised in the Philippines and migrated to Canada 8 years ago. With over 4 years of extensive accounting experience in a variety of industries such as insurance, car dealerships and construction, she has gained a unique and wide-ranged skill set that has helped her succeed to management accounting roles.

Janet understands the importance of keeping family a top priority while staying on top of career demands, so when not crunching numbers, she spends quality time with her husband and their beautiful 5-year-old daughter. She enjoys travelling overseas  and has already visited many major cities in Asia with her family. She also often visits the Philippines to see her parents, siblings and childhood friends.

With over 25 years in the Insurance Industry Elisabeth is a support staff member that we couldn’t be without. Elisabeth utilizes her keen abilities including but not limited to time management, and high attention to detail, these skills make her a key team member in our day to day operations. Elisabeth’s enjoys her job immensely, and is looking forward to many more years with Leibel.
